Sailing and Motor Yachts in Mahogany and Teak

Stern post

Proportions

Next to the boat builder, you can get an idea of the size of the stern post, to which the rudder blade is later attached.

Rotten

Here you can see the old wood in this section. It must be completely replaced.

Reconstruction

Here you can see the finished reconstruction of the stern post tilted on a cart. On the left you can see the lower end, which comes to rest on the keel base.

Reattached

The lower end of stern post was fitted onto the new keel base, while the upper part was reattached to the old parts of the yacht.

Here you can clearly make out the “sandwich” form of construction. The two outer parts are made of hard mahogany and the inner part from a lighter mahogany.

The somewhat darker right hand side is called the "knee".

Bond

Here you can see the perfect bond with the keel base.
