Increasing the gap

Now, each wedge is slowly driven deeper and deeper into the gap between the keel base and the ballast, systematically increasing the gap.
Here you can see the stern side of the lead ballast.

At the bow end of the ballast you can clearly make out how big the distance has become.

Base

Once a certain gap has been reached, a supporting base is placed under the wedge, and the time-consuming separating procedure continues.
