Building the new keel base

New keelson

Here you can see the multi-layered construction of the keelson. The individual parts were carefully glued together.

This remake was made using the original parts as models as well as the original drawings from 1928.
All completed new parts were given six undercoats.

The old keel base

The old keel base was carefully reassembled. It now serves as a model and remains next to the new keel base until the latter is finished.

Several layers

Here you can see that the keel base is crafted out several layers simultaneously.

Planing the surface smooth

Every layer is planed smooth, so that they can be joined together precisely.
