Anheften der Spanten

Screwing the frames together

Firstly, the necessary individual frame parts are fixed together with screws.
A few holes are left free for the first rivets.

Holder

The holder is placed on floor and serves as a base.
The hot rivet is placed carefully into the top crater of the holder using the tongs, with the rivet head facing downwards.

Adjustments

Here you see how the worker carefully positions the hot rivet into the holder. Two other boat builders manoeuvre the heavy frame so that the desired hole is exactly above the rivet.

In the top of the photo, you can also see a worker with a rivet hammer.
Up to 5 workers are needed for the rivet procedure, depending on the weight and size of the frames.
