Sailing and Motor Yachts in Mahogany and Teak

Plugging the planks

Gluing the plugs

Gluing the plugs

Each plank is attached to each frame using two counter-sunk rivets. The holes in the planks are then sealed with glue-coated mahogany plugs.
Here you can see how the glue completely seals the holes. The overhanging ends of the plugs are carefully sanded away.

In this photo, the joint between the two long plank halves is visible. Both plank ends are hafted together with a diagonal cut and glued together with epoxy resin on a long section of the yacht to ensure maximum hold.
