Taking measurements

Taking measurements

First of all, the place is marked where the new plank will be fitted. Then the appropriate groove is sawn out.

Fitting the first wooden frame

Here you can see how the first wooden frame has been fitted in to the keel base and then glued.

From the inside

From the inside

This is what the wooden frame looks like from inside the hull.
Our way of working is clear to see:
The individual wooden frames are dismantled one at a time from between the steel frames, reconstructed, and then refitted.
Then it is on to the next wooden frame.

This is the only way to keep the hull stable at all times.

second frame

Next the second frame

Here you can see the terrible condition that some steel frames are in.

Alternate sides

Alternate sides

Here you can see that the port side and starboard side are fitted alternately with new frames.

Completed

Completed

All of the frames in the keel section were systematically replaced. Due to enormous forces at work in this area, stable materials are essential.
