The new stern was fixed using clamps.

In order to gain easier access to work on parts, like the transom beam, we removed some of the planks around the middle girder.

Here you can see the intentional overhanging length of the new transom beam.

A test wedge

The wedge serves to fix the transom beam and transom into the exact position and to determine the length of the transom beam.
The overhanging section of the beam is now sawn off at the position marked with tape.

This is what the new transom beam looks like once it has the right length and form.
On top of the deck, you can see the large tools that were used to carry out this work.


 
 
 

Connection

The new elbow joint (transom knee) was fitted and forms the connection between the transom beam below, the deck above, and the transom that will be fitted later.
